Do you have equipment for listening to records?
We have a small A/V room on the second floor with a turntable, slides & a viewer, TV/VCR/DVD and audio tape players. Just ask for the key at the circulation desk.
Do you have public internet access?
The library has 8 public-access terminals, all located on the main floor.
If you are a PTS student, internet and PC access is also available in the
computer lab in the Long Administration Building, which can only be accessed via
key card available from the Seminary Information Desk. Information about
wireless internet connections
for laptops is
here.
Do you have computers for word processing?
The library's public computers on the main floor have
WordPad
[Wikipedia]
available for minimal word processing. Documents can be stored on USB devices, which can be purchased at the bookstore. For PTS students, PCs in the student computer lab in the Long Administration Building have Microsoft Word available. They can only be accessed via key card available from the Seminary Information Desk.
Can I use my laptop in the library?
A location has been established for the use of laptops in the library. Three large tables with power strips have been designated for this purpose in the periodicals area on the main floor.
Laptops are not permitted in the Reference Room for safety reasons (power cords
draped over walkway areas) and noise (the library has received complaints from
other students in the reference room.) If you are a PTS student with a study
carrel, of course you may use a laptop there as well. Information about wireless internet connections
for laptops is
here.
Are there quiet study areas in the library? Lockers to store personal items?
In addition to the Hansen Reading Room (second floor) and the general reading areas in the periodical stacks and reference room (main floor), there are study carrels that are available for student use. Information about carrels and lockers for student use can be found here.
Cell Phones and Courtesy in the Library
Please respect your neighbor and the quiet study atmosphere of the library. Turn your cell phone off or set it to "vibrate." If you receive a call on your cell phone or want to place a call, please use the small phone room (in the main lobby) or leave the library for your conversations. Thank you for helping to preserve quiet time in the library for all patrons.
Do you have a "lost and found?"
Items found in the library are kept at the main desk. After several months, if not claimed, they are sent over to the receptionist in the main building.
